Contests are just what the word says – contests – that means winners and not winners.  Being in a contest is always a great growth experience whether as a contestant or as one of the many support roles which are important to contests.

This page is a collection of speech contest information. Speech contests BEGIN with a club promoting contest participation. Promotion brings participants: contestants, contest Toastmaster, contest Chief Judge, and volunteers to serve as timekeeper, ballot counters, and judges.

I have experienced that contests (actually, any open event) are most successful when well planned and PROMOTED. Do not expect anyone to attend if you do not let them know.

• Create a flyer.
• Make it stand out.
• Give the important information - place, time, cost.
• If it's online, give the address.
• Provide a point of contact for more information.
