Toastmaster of the Day

Amber LaValley
06/22/14

On June 21, I left Pryor, OK at 6 am for the Francis Tuttle (Portland Campus) Technology Center. I had been there several times and didn't expect anything to go wrong. Approaching the outskirts of OKC I turned my GPS on and didn't question anything until I passed the Portland exit on the John Kilpatrick Turnpike without hearing a peep from my iPhone.

Seeing I had 45 minutes, I continued to follow the voice commands and finally arrived at (a) Francis Tuttle Campus and saw the parking lot was empty except for one car. The person in that car appeared to be lost as was I. She pulled along side my truck and rolled her window down; said her name was Amber LaValley. "Are you Benjamin Cox?"

Amber joined on March 1, 2012. She has participated in at least one area speech contest at EOC in Choctaw. That may have been the first time I met her. I visited the Boomer Nooners club six months ago and Amber was there. She was (and is) the current Vice President Public Relations. I asked her about the two members her club needed to be distinguished. She indicated they would have them before June 30; that she has been calling those that have not renewed and anyone else she could think of.

If you haven't met Amber, she is tall, slim and attractive. Her Facebook page shows an active participation in the Martial Arts and many other activities.

There were 160 plus that attended club officers training at the Portland campus. Amber was one of them. She realizes it takes more than physical attraction to be successful. She wants to be admired for her speaking ability. She wants to be respected for her style of leadership. She wants to be the best she can be and to help those around her be successful, as well.

Amber LaValley is my June 22, 2014 'Toastmaster of the Day'.

Note: Toastmaster of the Day is a recognition from the 2013-2014 District Governor, Ben Cox, DTM.
